Here Comes the Sun
Shortlisted for the Chesil Theatre Take Ten Playwriting competition ‘Snakes and Ladders’ 2024. The outcome of a pregnancy test determines the play's conclusion.
At a life-changing moment, two characters reflect on cherished memories, past choices and the lessons that have brought them to where they are now. But hanging over their conversation is one unanswered question: what will the pregnancy test reveal?
This poignant two-hander offers actors an unusual theatrical challenge: the result is genuinely unknown until it is revealed on stage. Neither the audience nor the performer knows how the play will end, requiring the actors to respond truthfully in the moment.
With the possibility of a different ending at every performance, Here Comes the Sun combines emotional depth with spontaneity, suspense and the excitement of live theatre.
